Qualifications

• 5+ years in automotive dealership accounting in a Controller role.
• Strong knowledge of floorplan financing, Contracts in Transit (CIT), Tax and Title, F&I operations.
• Experience reviewing dealership financial statements and month-end close processes.
• CPA designation or public accounting background preferred.

Responsibilities

• Partner with dealership General Managers to provide financial analysis, guidance, and operational support
• Review dealership financial statements, schedules, and month end close activities to ensure accuracy and timeliness
• Monitor Contracts in Transit (CIT), floorplan balances, receivables, cash flow, and working capital performance
• Ensure compliance with manufacturer and OEM reporting requirements
• Identify accounting process improvement opportunities and implement best practices
• Develop and document standard operating procedures and process maps
• Assess accounting operations and recommend organizational and workflow improvements
• Support dealership reporting, compliance initiatives, and operational performance objectives

Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced Automotive Controller to provide financial leadership and operational support for 1 to 2 dealership locations. This role serves as a strategic business partner to dealership General Managers and executive leadership, helping drive financial performance, strengthen accounting processes, and ensure compliance across dealership operations.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong dealership accounting background and a passion for improving processes within a growing organization. Key Responsibilities

• Partner with dealership General Managers to provide financial analysis, guidance, and operational support
• Review dealership financial statements, schedules, and month end close activities to ensure accuracy and timeliness
• Monitor Contracts in Transit (CIT), floorplan balances, receivables, cash flow, and working capital performance
• Ensure compliance with manufacturer and OEM reporting requirements
• Identify accounting process improvement opportunities and implement best practices
• Develop and document standard operating procedures and process maps
• Assess accounting operations and recommend organizational and workflow improvements
• Support dealership reporting, compliance initiatives, and operational performance objectives

Key Requirements

• 5+ years of automotive dealership accounting experience in a Controller, Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, or dealership finance leadership role
• Strong understanding of dealership accounting operations, including floorplan financing, Contracts in Transit (CIT), Tax and Title, F&I operations, deal posting, and funding processes
• Experience reviewing dealership financial statements, schedules, and month end close processes
• Proven experience partnering directly with dealership General Managers and operational leadership teams
• Experience managing OEM reporting and compliance requirements
• Demonstrated success documenting, improving, and standardizing accounting processes
• CPA designation or public accounting foundation combined with dealership experience is preferred
• Strong communication, leadership, organizational, and relationship building skills

Additional Preferred Experience

• Experience within large dealership groups or multi-rooftop dealership environments
• Experience in fast growing or acquisitive organizations
• Exposure to accounting centralization initiatives and process transformation projects
• Experience with Ford, Hyundai, or Genesis dealership operations is highly preferred
