Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited school or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in propulsion systems, automatic transmissions, or related field.
• Knowledge of axle systems or components and experience as a DRE in OEM/Tier 1 environments.
• Proficiency in GD&T, drawing creation, and virtual analysis.
• Strong interpersonal communication and team leadership skills, including presenting to executives.

Responsibilities

• Manage full life cycle of axle-related components and sub-assemblies from requirements to serial life maintenance.
• Design and release for key components (structures, seals, fasteners); lead change-management for components.
• Ensure design best practices, lessons learned, and continuous improvements in the release process.
• Lead technical infrastructure evolution for components, including documentation, definitions, and drawing signoffs; review CAD and 2D drawings with GD&T.
• Own and update DFMEA, DVPR, and FMEA artifacts; develop timelines, drive deliverables, and present action plans with risks.

What's the Job?

• Manage the full life cycle of key axle-related components and sub-assemblies, including defining requirements, conceptual design, supplier sourcing, manufacturing, validation, industrialization, and serial life maintenance (e.g., field issue resolution and warranty reduction).
• Design and release responsible for key components for structures, seals, and fastener components; lead change-management for respective components.
• Ensure design best practices, lessons learned, and continuous improvements are integrated into the product design release process.
• Lead technical infrastructure evolution for key components, including documentation, specifications, requirements definitions, and drawing signoffs; review CAD and 2D drawings including GD&T.
• Own and update DFMEA, DVPR, and FMEA artifacts; develop timelines, drive deliverables, present action plans with status/risks, and root-cause build issues found during pre-production and warranty analysis after launch.

• Knowledge of axle systems or components and previous experience as a Design and Release Engineer (DRE) in OEM and/or Tier 1 supplier environments to OEMs.

• Strong interpersonal communication and team leadership skills, including comfort presenting to executive leadership teams.
