Job summary

Parts Town in Illinois seeks a Sr. Maintenance Technician, internally known as the Automation Whisperer, to lead preventative maintenance, diagnose root causes, and perform mission-critical repairs in our Fulfillment Center.

You will work with vendors and internal partners to keep equipment running safely and efficiently, train Level 2 technicians, and occasionally travel to other facilities as needed.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of mechanical experience in automated distribution centers.
• Ability to troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and computer-controlled equipment.
• Ability to read technical manuals and blueprints.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to other facilities.
• Fluency in English (written and verbal).
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand/walk for long periods.
• Vehicle certification or willingness to become certified.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance on conveyors, sorters, truck loaders and other material handling equipment.
• Diagnose root causes of complex problems using electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and computer systems.
• Perform emergency repairs to keep fulfillment center operations running.
• Train Level 2 technicians and apprentices in maintenance methods.
• Conduct daily inspections and coordinate with vendors for support.
• Support fire/sprinkler systems, standby generator, HVAC and related equipment.
