Job summary

Parts Town is hiring a Sr. Maintenance Technician (Automation Whisperer) for our Fulfillment Center in Addison, IL. You will lead preventative maintenance, diagnose and repair complex equipment, and collaborate with vendors and internal teams to keep operations running smoothly.

You will mentor Level 2 technicians, inspect equipment, and support safety-critical systems. Strong mechanical experience in automated environments, plus PLC/electrical know-how, is required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of mechanical experience in an automated distribution center environment.
• Troubleshoot complex problems with electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and computer-controlled equipment.
• Read technical manuals and blueprints.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to other facilities as needed.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand/walk for 8+ hours.
• Fluent in English (written and verbal).

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced preventative maintenance on conveyors and other material handling equipment.
• Diagnose root causes using electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and PLC knowledge.
• Perform emergency repairs to keep the fulfillment center fully operational.
• Train Level 2 technicians and apprentices in proper maintenance and inspection methods.
• Coordinate with vendors and internal teams for timely repairs and improvements.
• Support fire/sprinkler systems, standby generator, HVAC and other equipment in the facility.

The Job at a Glance

As a Sr. Maintenance Technician, internally known as the Automation Whisperer, you will be the top level of support for the mechanical systems in our Fulfillment Center.Youwill beresponsible forperformingpreventative maintenance, troubleshooting complex problems and performing mission-critical repairs on equipment to keep the Fulfillment Centerfully operational. You will work closely with vendors and internal partners to diagnose problems and perform repairs over a widerange of material handling equipment to supportsafe and efficient operations.

A Typical Day

• Performadvancedpreventative maintenance onconveyor systems in the distribution center including sorters, powered conveyors, truck loaders, and other material handling equipment.
• Using priorknowledge of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic andcomputer-controlledequipment to diagnoseroot cause of complex problems.
• Performemergency repairs onthe most complexequipment as needed.
• Training level 2technicians and apprentices in proper maintenance, repair, and inspection methods.
• Perform daily visual and auditory inspections of the equipment, noting and addressing issues found.
• Performadvanceddiagnostic tests as neededand coordinates support activities with 3 rd party vendors.
• Act astop-levelsupport forfire/sprinkler systems, standby generator, HVAC equipment etc. and other equipment within the fulfillment center.
• Climbingladders, usingforklifts, scissor lifts, saws, drills,hand tools,etc.
• Partnerwiththe Fulfillment Centerleadership team tounderstand mission and supports needed operational changes through planning and executing directives.

To Land This Opportunity

• You have5+years ofmechanicalexperience in an automated distribution center environment utilizing powered conveyors, sorters, and other automated material handling equipment.
• You excel at troubleshooting complex problems with electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and computer-controlled equipment in an industrial environment.
• You can perform complex repairs of equipment with the help of remote support andhaveexperience reading technical manuals and blueprints
• You have a valid driver’slicense,andwillingness to infrequently travelto other facilities as needed
• You’re an all-star communicator and are fluent in English (both written and verbal)
• You havetheability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform 8 or more hours of standing, bending, lifting,walking,and carrying products in combination at any given time
• You are vehicle certified or willing to become certified
• Youenjoyworkingin abusywarehouse environmentwith varying temperatures and sounds

About Your Future Team

The salary range for this role is $67,150.30-$82,072.59 ($32.28/hr-39.45/hr) which is based on including but not limited to qualifications, experience, and geographical location. Parts Town is a pay for performance-company. In addition to base pay, some roles offer a profit-sharing program, and an annual bonus depending on the role.
