Description: Automation Test Engineer III

The Automation Test Engineer III develops and implements automated tests to ensure product quality and efficiency. The incumbent applies advanced knowledge of QA practices, methodologies, and techniques to test and verify that all quality standards are met. This role utilizes testing tools, test management solutions, and data management approaches to support continuous testing. Additionally, the engineer contributes to the development and optimization of test automation frameworks, recommends quality improvement initiatives, and mentors less experienced team members.

Position Responsibilities

Design and Methodology

• Designs the overall testing plan for projects.
• Leads defect detection, troubleshooting, and problem-solving related to project development.
• Acts in a lead capacity within the team to make decisions related to quality.
• Designs and develops test automation scripts at scale.
• Researches issues in software through testing.
• Develops test automation frameworks for Web, Mobile, and API testing.
• Implements new tools and methods for testing.
• Maintains and extends existing build tools.
• Defines test strategies and approaches at the project level.
• Participates in code reviews with a focus on testability.
• Introduces and suggests new processes and techniques.
• Identifies opportunities for automation within software processes.
• Designs and executes automated QA tests.
• Creates test cases for new product features and verifies requirements and bug fixes meet acceptance criteria.
• Automates existing and new test cases for Web, Mobile, and API testing.
• Implements test strategies and plans.
• Performs contentious testing using build tools like Jenkins.
• Identifies bugs and quality issues in development, services, or business processes.
• Installs applications, including build and testing tools.

Technical Consulting

• Collaborates with other business units to improve workflows through automation.
• Gathers requirements from clients, customers, or end-users to develop optimal test automation solutions.
• Influences teams to identify testable new features.
• Understands testing across multiple concurrent work streams.
• Contributes to best practices and standards established by the Testing Center of Excellence (TCOE).
• Understands dependencies between teams.
• Collaborates with project teams to develop solutions.
• Works with quality engineering on testing approaches, strategies, and guidelines.

Risk Management

Understands risk management in testing, including risk mitigation, identification, and impact analysis. Implements quality compliance and governance, participates in Agile planning, and engages with TCOE to update standard playbooks.

Administration/Support

• Tracks weekly time spent on tasks.
• Reports to test management.
• Participates in testing meetings.
• Completes required training sessions.
