3MD Inc. in Redmond, WA seeks an Automation Technician I to design, build and test automation solutions with a focus on computer vision or robotics. The role spends about 75% of time in an office/lab environment with some travel to customer sites for installation and commissioning.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of hardware/automation experience.
• Strong ability to troubleshoot hardware, wiring and software problems.
• Travels to customer locations as necessary to provide service.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Attends regular ongoing education as scheduled by the employer or manufacturer of equipment.
• Experience with automation equipment, including barcode readers, machine vision, control systems, robots, is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and test automation solutions focused on computer vision or robotics.
• Support handoff to field operations and onsite commissioning.
• Work in lab and configuration environments to optimize performance.
• Provide onsite service and support to customers.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and optimize automation equipment.
• Document system configurations, issues, and resolutions clearly.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and inventory used for system assembly and service.
• Train customers on start-up, operation, and maintenance of equipment.
