Job summary

Aerotek seeks an Automation Technician to join its onsite team in Gurnee, IL. You will assemble, wire, and startup custom automation equipment, using mechanical and basic electrical skills along with 3D printing for project needs.

The role emphasizes reading engineering drawings, working with subpanels, and performing incremental debugging while maintaining safety standards and a collaborative team approach.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3+ years of basic electrical wiring experience.
• Ability to use a multimeter safely for basic testing and troubleshooting.
• Hands-on fabrication experience in a shop/manufacturing setting.
• Proficient with hand and power tools for assembly and fabrication.
• At least 2 years in mechanical or electrical assembly or fabrication.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Strong reading of engineering drawings and schematics.
• Experience supporting equipment startup and debugging activities.
• Ability to lift up to 45 pounds and stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Assemble components per drawings and schematics.
• Layout, build, and wire electrical subpanels.
• Support startup and debugging of new equipment.
• Operate and maintain 3D printing equipment when needed.
• Read blueprints and part lists to plan assembly sequences.
• Fabricate parts using hand/power tools and shop equipment.
• Position components with hoists or jigs for accuracy.
• Maintain clean, safe work area and follow SOPs.
• Provide basic automation support and troubleshooting.
