Job summary

Tyson Foods in the Town of Amherst, NY seeks an experienced maintenance technician to weld, read blueprints, and troubleshoot automation. Proficiency in TIG and MIG welding, and the ability to work with metal and plastic are required. You will interpret gauges, calipers, and other measuring devices, perform machining tasks, and help maintain equipment in a 2nd shift role.

A.S. degree in Electronics Technology and 2+ years of related experience are preferred, with strong documentation and SAP

Qualifications

• Education: Training beyond high school incl. AS in Electronics Technology or related field.
• Experience: 2+ years in industrial maintenance or automation; some electrical/mechanical work.
• Computer skills: SAP Maintenance, document organization, and research techniques.
• Communication: able to communicate clearly in writing and verbally.
• Travel: as needed.

Responsibilities

• Weld using TIG and MIG; read and interpret blueprints.
• Read gauges, calipers, indicators and micrometers; cut, square, mill, tape and bore.
• Work with metal and plastic; perform machining tasks as required.
• Troubleshoot automation systems and participate in preventive maintenance.
• Maintain accurate documentation and work with team effectively.

SUMMARY

This position requires proficiency in the following areas; reverse engineer small parts as needed; weld (TIG and MIG); read and interpret blueprints; read and interpret various measuring devices such as gauges, calipers, indicators and micrometers; cut, square, mill, tape and bore; work with all types of metal and plastic.

REQUIREMENTS

• Education : Training beyond high school including either an Associate (A.S.) degree in Electronics Technology (or closely related technical field), or a combination of education and experience which may include skilled trades programs or military training.
• Experience : 2+ years of experience in a related field; industrial maintenance or automation experience preferred; some experience in electrical and mechanical required.
• Computer Skills : Standard computer skills; must have strong skills in document organization, the use of technical materials, and research techniques. Must either be proficient or become proficient in SAP Maintenance.
• Communication Skills : Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing with all team members.
• Supervisory : NA
• Travel : As needed.
