Job summary

Procter & Gamble at the DYMC Dayton Mix Center is hiring mechanically skilled technicians to maintain and troubleshoot automated equipment, including robots for case, layer and pallet movements. You will perform preventive maintenance and calibrations, and monitor and improve production systems.

The role requires 12-hour shifts on a 2-2-3 bi-weekly rotation, with day and night options; overtime may be required on weekends or holidays. A high school diploma and technical exposure are expected.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma (or GED) with 2 years of technical manufacturing experience.
  • Applied mechanical skills in an industrial environment.
  • Knowledge of machinery: engines, pumps, conveyors, gears, bearings.
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools, diagnostic equipment.
  • Strong troubleshooting and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Reduce equipment downtime through mechanical troubleshooting and preventive maintenance.
  • Assist in calibrations and maintenance of automated equipment.
  • Monitor performance data and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Collaborate with team to implement continuous improvements.

The starting base pay is $22.95, with an additional shift adder based on the shift you are interested in.

Operations Schedule

This site operates continuously 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Scope of Work

Mechanically skilled technicians perform various types of work, such as:

  • Maintaining and troubleshooting automated equipment included but not limited to autonomous robots responsible for case, layer and/or pallet movements
  • Performing preventive maintenance and calibrations on equipment
  • Troubleshooting, monitoring, & improving equipment and systems
  • Analyzing trends and technical data to gain insights of the equipment and systems, and identify issues proactively
  • Building technical skills in others
Work Hours

Able to work 12-hour shifts, schedules is a 2-2-3 bi-weekly rotation schedule. Shifts are assigned depending on business need. We cannot guarantee your preference of shift is what you will be assigned. Day shift is 6:00am-6:30pm and night shift 6:00pm-6:30am.

Flexibility

Technicians will work rotating shifts.

Overtime

Overtime may be required on weekends and/or holidays.

Mechanically skilled technicians are being hired as skilled members of our warehouse operations teams. Mechanically skilled technicians are responsible for reducing equipment downtime, troubleshooting mechanical and systematic issues, eliminating defects, and building technical mastery. They focus on initiating and implementing continuous improvement projects with the goal of delivering the best product, at the lowest cost, with the highest quality, on time every time, and in a safe environment. They have mechanical technical mastery in order to successfully troubleshoot problems and to proactively improve production systems. Mechanically skilled technicians have the opportunity to become equipment area owners. This could involve creating processes and designs to improve their areas’ performance.

Job Qualifications
  • Minimum of a high school diploma/GED & 2-years of technical experience in manufacturing or like industry
  • Applied mechanical skills in an industrial environment
  • Should be knowledgeable about different types of machinery and equipment commonly used in manufacturing including various types of engines, pumps, compressors, conveyors, gears, bearings, and other mechanical components. Understanding the working principles, construction, and operational characteristics of these systems enables technicians to diagnose problems and perform maintenance or repairs.
  • Proficiency in using a wide range of tools and instruments is essential for a mechanical technician. They should be well-versed in the use of hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and precision instruments for tasks such as disassembly, assembly, measurement, alignment, and testing.
  • System Integration: In addition to understanding individual components, a mechanical technician should have a grasp of how various components interact within a larger system. This includes knowledge of system integration, control mechanisms, automation, and interconnections with electrical, pneumatic, or hydraulic systems. Understanding system behavior and interdependence is crucial for effective troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Strong technical troubleshooting, problem-solving, issue resolution and root cause analysis for mechanical issues
  • Interpersonal and teamwork skills

Successful completion of a Technical Interview will be required as part of the application process. Upon hire, you will be expected to remain in the ALPS department for at least 18 months before being eligible for roles in alternate departments.
