Job summary

Brooksource is seeking an Automation Technician for the night shift in Concord, North Carolina. Job description

Pay Range: $40-45/hr

Shift: 2-2-3 rotating schedule, 12-hour shifts (day shift and night shift openings)

About the Job

The Automation Technician (Night Shift) supports automated manufacturing equipment by monitoring performance, troubleshooting issues, and providing first-line technical support to production. The role also supports engineering initiatives, continuous improvement, and project execution, while helping ensure systems remain safe, compliant, and in a qualified state. This position does not perform hands‑on maintenance activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Follow all safety requirements; promote safe operating and work practices.
  • Perform work in accordance with cGMPs and approved procedures.
  • Monitor equipment performance, troubleshoot issues, and help minimize production delays.
  • Use equipment performance data to identify quality and reliability improvement opportunities.
  • Communicate effectively with operations, engineering, and maintenance to plan repairs and changes with minimal disruption.
  • Partner with cross‑functional teams to develop or improve equipment designs, procedures, studies, and operating/maintenance strategies.
  • Support engineering by documenting findings, creating action plans, sharing equipment capability knowledge, and implementing tools/training to improve team proficiency.
  • Participate in periodic equipment state reviews.
  • Plan and execute small equipment/process improvement projects and change implementations.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 2+ years of automation experience.
  • Authorized to work in the United States on a full‑time basis without employer sponsorship.
  • Ability to meet background check and drug screening requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working safely in a collaborative manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in a GMP‑regulated facility.
  • Instrumentation experience and PLC/HMI programming skills.
  • Rockwell Automation Studio 5000 and FactoryTalk View SE experience.
  • Strong technical writing skills; proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to work independently with strong organization, attention to detail, and flexibility.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a customer‑service mindset.
  • Experience with highly automated equipment.
  • Experience with B&R automation platforms (preferred).
  • Knowledge of parenteral/packaging equipment and manufacturing operations.
  • Experience with CMMS tools such as Maximo (or similar).
Additional Information
  • Overtime may be required during shutdowns, emergencies, or peak workload periods.
  • Work may involve exposure to hazardous equipment and materials; strict adherence to safety practices is required.
Physical & Work Requirements
  • Ability to work 12‑hour shifts on a rotating 2‑2‑3 schedule
  • Ability to stand for extended periods (up to 12 hours)
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds
