Job Summary

The Automation Maintenance Technician is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing automated machinery, electrical/mechanical equipment, and production systems to ensure optimal performance and adherence to quality and safety standards. This role supports continuous production by performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting system issues, and collaborating with senior technicians and engineers to enhance equipment reliability.

Duties / Responsibilities
  • Inspect automated machinery, equipment, and systems to identify issues and ensure functionality.
  • Calibrate, troubleshoot, and perform maintenance on various types of electrical and mechanical equipment.
  • Ability to prioritize and self‑schedule maintenance work around production activities.
  • Ensure quality standards are always met.
  • Assist in the assembly, installation, and maintenance of automated systems according to specifications.
  • Collaborate with senior technicians and engineers to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and quality checks on automated systems to uphold standards.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of preventive maintenance procedures.
  • Assist in planning and scheduling repairs and maintenance tasks.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records for equipment and supplies.
  • Adhere to GMP (current Good Manufacturing Practices), safety standards and policies to maintain a safe working environment.
Required Skills / Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of automation systems, including process control, instrumentation, and servo‑driven systems with ladder logic.
  • Proficiency in calibrating, troubleshooting, and maintaining electrical and mechanical equipment.
  • Ability to prioritize and schedule maintenance tasks effectively around production activities.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with proficiency in using hand and power tools for maintenance and repairs.
  • Excellent problem‑solving abilities with keen attention to detail, especially in ensuring quality standards.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for reporting issues and collaborating with team members.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Familiarity with cGMP (current Good Manufacturing Practices) and safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Willingness to continuously learn and adapt to new technologies and processes in automation and mechanical systems.
Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Vocational/trade training or an associate's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment, with hands‑on experience in automation and mechanical systems required.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance programs and automation troubleshooting preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects up to 75 pounds.
  • Comfortable working in environments with exposure to noise, dust, heat, cold, and other industrial elements.
  • Ability to work in a warehouse environment with variable temperatures and humidity levels.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and occasional overtime as needed, including weekends, public holidays, and evenings.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend over, and pick up items and have constant movement for the duration of the shift.
  • Must be able to lift, push, kneel, and pick up items, both small and large.
  • Capability to operate heavy machinery such as pallet jacks and forklifts safely and efficiently.
Work Schedule (Non‑Exempt)

This position is scheduled on a full‑time basis. Specific shift times and work days are determined by the operation and may vary by location. Business needs may require work on evenings, weekends, and holidays, as well as occasional overtime. Scheduled start and end times, assigned shifts, and work days are subject to change based on staffing and operational requirements. Whenever feasible, advance notice of schedule changes will be provided.

Vehicle & Travel Requirements
  • This position will require intermediate travel between Wilmington, Ohio, and Cincinnati, Ohio.
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License and own vehicle.
  • Reliable transportation and insurance coverage.
