Automation Technician – 5+ Years Experience
Location: Malvern, Ohio
Compensation: $50 per hour
Job Type: Full-Time
Position Overview
We are actively seeking an experienced Automation Technician with 5 or more years of field experience to join our team in Malvern, Ohio. This role focuses on maintaining and optimizing automation and control systems in an industrial environment. You’ll work both independently and collaboratively to troubleshoot complex systems, support operations, and implement improvements.
This position is ideal for a skilled technician looking to take ownership of automation responsibilities while contributing to a safety-first, team-oriented culture.
Work Schedule
- Monday through Friday, Day Shift (40 hours per week)
- Required on-call rotation (after completion of training) for after-hours and weekend support
Primary Responsibilities
- Read and interpret detailed P&IDs, loop diagrams, and control system documentation
- Troubleshoot and fine-tune PID control loops for optimal process performance
- Program, configure, and troubleshoot:
- PLCs (Allen Bradley, Siemens, Eaton)
- RTUs (ROC, FB107, TotalFlow)
- HMIs (Red Lion, Maple, Beijer)
- Edge systems and software (Ignition, On-Logic, Moxa)
- Serial to Ethernet converters (Moxa, Phoenix, Red Lion)
- Manage communication protocols such as Modbus
- Perform routine safety calibrations and testing: ESD, LEL, H2S systems
- Use diagnostic tools (multimeters, loop calibrators, etc.) to resolve wiring and sensor issues
- Install, configure, and maintain field instrumentation (flow meters, temperature sensors, pressure transmitters)
- Proactively identify system inefficiencies and support improvement initiatives
Experience And Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on automation or instrumentation experience in an industrial setting
- Strong knowledge of automation platforms, field instrumentation, and process control systems
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
- Experience leading or mentoring less experienced technicians
- Journeyman Electrician license or I&E Technician certification preferred
- Commitment to safety practices and adherence to compliance standards
Additional Expectations
- Lead system upgrades, technical evaluations, and process improvement projects
- Assist in developing SOPs and training materials for automation systems
- Participate in team safety meetings and maintain accurate documentation
- Provide training and technical support to newer team members
