Job summary

ofi North America is hiring an Automation Technician to join our on-site maintenance team in Phoenix, AZ. You will troubleshoot and diagnose production equipment controls, including PLCs and drives, and maintain control programs.

The role requires PLC knowledge, diagnostic skills, and ability to read ladder diagrams, with Allen Bradley experience highly desirable. The position involves following GMPs, safety procedures, and CMMS usage.

Qualifications

• Three (3) or more years of controls programming/maintenance experience.
• Extensive knowledge of PLC controls, troubleshooting, and basic programming.
• Experience with Allen Bradley and Automation Direct PLCs is highly desirable.
• Experience in electrical/electronics, motors, drives and controls relevant to manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and archive all equipment control programs.
• Respond to controls-related calls and fix issues promptly.
• Create and complete CMMS work orders.
• Follow LOTO procedures and GMPs.
• Read schematics/diagrams to diagnose issues.
• Recommend improvements to equipment performance.

Position Summary

ofi values in-person collaboration with colleagues – this is a fully onsite position where employees are expected to work their specific work schedule onsite.

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Automation Technician will provide support to Maintenance and Operations by troubleshooting and diagnosing day-to-day issues with production equipment controls, such as PLCs, VFDs and other drives, as well as other electrical and mechanical components.

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of PLC controls, troubleshooting, diagnostic and basic programming. Allen Bradley and Automation Direct PLCs highly desired.

Knowledge of Allen Bradley VFDs programming/setting, troubleshooting and diagnostic.

Be able to read/interpret ladder diagrams and drawings. Be skillful accessing PLC programs through a laptop and determine failures, diagnostic program issues, etc. Knowledge of AB Studio, PanelView, ControlLogix, MicroLogix, PowerFlex, etc.

What You’ll Do

• Maintain all equipment programs up to date and in good working order. Maintain and control an archive of all equipment control programs.
• Attend all calls related to controls related issues and fix them in a timely manner.
• Create and complete Work Orders into Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
• Performs all work in a safe manner to include following specific procedures for Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) before making repairs.
• Understands and follows good manufacturing practice (GMPs).
• Observe functionality of equipment to determine the need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement
• Uses schematics, blueprints, and diagrams to troubleshoot and diagnose equipment or process-related issues and problems.
• Makes recommendations regarding working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of equipment.
• Maintain satisfactory attendance to include timeliness.
• Responsible for understanding and complying with applicable safety, quality, regulatory and environmental regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience You’ll Bring – Role Requirements

• Three (3) or more years of controls programming / maintenance experience. Allen Bradley Course completion highly desirable.
• Extensive knowledge of PLC controls, troubleshooting, diagnostic and basic programming. Allen Bradley and Automation Direct PLCs highly desired.
• Extensive knowledge and practical applications experience in electrical/electronics, PLCs, A/C and D/C motors, drives and controls.
• Previous experience working in a food / pharmaceutical / FDA environment.
• Experience reading technical drawings and schematics.
• Ability to safely use power tools.
• Working understanding of CMMS system
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Skilled in reading, comprehending, interpreting, and executing simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Skilled in the use of MS Office Suite at intermediate level
• Able to identify, analyze, and resolve problems in a timely manner.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and guidelines.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines.
• Ability to frequently lift up to fifty (50) pounds.
• Stand, walk, push, pull, squat, bend, and reach during shifts
• Ability to work flexible schedules, overtime and weekends as required
• This role is performed on site at a facility that regularly processes tree nuts. The pay for this role ranges from $35/hr - $38/hr and is based on position responsibilities and geographic location. Actual pay within this range may be determined based on the candidate's experience, qualifications, and/or other determining factors.
