Job summary

Lufkin Industries is seeking an Automation Technician to service, troubleshoot, and install electrical/electronic equipment on site across the oil & gas sector. The role emphasizes independent work, safety, and strong hands-on skills, with readiness for overtime and travel as needed.

Applicants should have a high school diploma, 3+ years in electrical work in oil & gas, and prefer a licensed electrician. Experience with automation, instrumentation, and MS Office is beneficial.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • Three years of electrical experience in oil & gas.
  • Licensed Electrician (Journeyman or Master Electrical License) preferred.
  • Basic computer skills with MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Oilfield experience.
  • Experience with variable speed drives.
  • Automation and instrumentation experience.
  • Must be willing to work overtime, weekends, and holidays when required.
  • Must be willing to lift 55 lbs and work in extreme weather.

Responsibilities

  • Service and maintain Lufkin Automation equipment under supervision.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical/electronic equipment.
  • Perform on-site installation of equipment and conduit.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Automation Technician will:

  • Service and maintain Lufkin Automation equipment under the direct supervision of the Field Services leader.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical/electronic equipment
  • Perform on-site installation of electrical/electronic equipment, conduit, etc.
  • Use various electronic equipment and tools including auto cranes, stud guns, etc.
  • Recognize and assess a variety of well-optimization issues, either on your own or by calling other technical specialists
  • Must be willing to work with other business entities
  • Must be willing to work overtime, weekends, and holidays when required
  • Must be willing to work in a hands-on environment and able to lift 55 lbs/ working in extreme weather for extended periods
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record to the extent that you are applying for a position that requires you to operate a Lufkin-owned or leased Vehicle for company business
  • Must be willing to submit to a check of your driving record/ Pass a DOT physical/ work in a constant pushing, pulling, lifting, stretching, bending, and other physical activities/ be in the shop environment a minimum of 8 HRs per day primarilystanding and sitting/ willing to stay out of town on occasion.
Required Qualifications:
