Job summary

Lufkin Industries is seeking an Automation Technician to service and maintain automation equipment in field and shop environments. You will troubleshoot electrical/electronic systems and install equipment on-site, including conduit work, while coordinating with other technical specialists.

Key qualifications include a high school diploma and at least three years in oil & gas electrical work. Some positions require a valid driver’s license and willingness to travel/out of town.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Three years of electrical experience in oil & gas.
  • Ability to work independently is preferred.
  • Oilfield experience is a plus.
  • Experience with variable speed drives is desirable.
  • Automation and instrumentation experience is helpful.
  • Maintain customer service and quality standards.
  • Always follow HSE procedures.
  • Able to manage inventory.

Responsibilities

  • Service and maintain Lufkin Automation equipment under supervision.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical/electronic equipment.
  • Perform on-site installation of electrical/electronic equipment and conduit.
  • Use electronic equipment and tools, including cranes and stud guns.
  • Assess well-optimization issues with other technical specialists.
  • Work with other business entities as needed.
  • Be willing to overtime, nights, weekends, and holidays when required.
  • Maintain safety while working in shop and field environments.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Automation Technician will:

  • Service and maintain Lufkin Automation equipment under the direct supervision of the Field Services leader.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical/electronic equipment
  • Perform on-site installation of electrical/electronic equipment, conduit, etc.
  • Use various electronic equipment and tools including auto cranes, stud guns, etc.
  • Recognize and assess a variety of well-optimization issues, either on your own or by calling other technical specialists
  • Must be willing to work with other business entities
  • Must be willing to workovertime, weekends, and holidays when required
  • Must be willing to work in a hands-on environment and able to lift 55 lbs/ working in extreme weather for extended periods
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record to the extent that you are applying for a position that requires you to operate a Lufkin-owned or leased Vehicle for company business
  • Must be willing to submit to a check of your driving record/ Pass a DOT physical/ work in a constant pushing, pulling, lifting, stretching, bending, and other physical activities/ be in the shop environment a minimum of 8 HRs per day primarilystanding and sitting/ willing to stay out of town on occasion.
Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Three years of electrical experience in oil & gas.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Licensed Electrician (Journeyman or Master Electrical License)
  • Basic computer skills such as experience with MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
  • Ability to work independently
  • Oilfield experience
  • Experience working with variable speed drives
  • Automation and instrumentation experience
  • Meet and maintain Customer service standards and quality
  • Always Follow HSE procedures
  • Able to manage inventory
