Job summary

J &O Plastics in Ohio is seeking an Automation Tech to set up, operate, and troubleshoot automated and robotic equipment on the production floor. You will maintain robot cells, end-of-arm tooling, and teach robot positions under the Manufacturing Engineer's supervision.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or technical degree in robotics, automation, or electrical, with hands-on automation experience, robot programming (Fanuc preferred), and the ability to work safely in a loud production

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or technical degree in robotics, automation, electrical, or equivalent experience.
  • Understanding of automation systems including mechanical, tooling, robotics, controls, and software.
  • Robot programming experience – Fanuc preferred.
  • Knowledge of pneumatic and electrical circuits.
  • Ability to use hand tools and diagnose issues on equipment.
  • Able to work safely in a production environment and lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment issues on the production floor.
  • Adjust robot programs as needed.
  • Install End of Arm tooling.
  • Perform equipment modifications using hand and power tools.
  • Setup robot cells on a job-specific basis.
  • Maintain pneumatic and electrical components on robot cells.
  • Utilize a forklift to move a robot cell.

The Automation Tech will primarily be responsible for the Setup, Operation and Troubleshooting of Automated and Robotic Equipment on the Production floor. This will include upkeep of Robotic Equipment, End-of-Arm Tooling and Teaching Robot Positions. The Automation Tech reports to the Manufacturing Engineer.

RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE:
  • Diagnose and Troubleshoot Equipment issues on the production floor
  • Adjust Robot Programs
  • Install End of Arm tooling
  • Perform equipment modifications using hand and power tools
  • Setup Robot Cells on a job specific basis
  • Maintain pneumatic and electrical components on the Robot Cells
  • Utilize a forklift to move a Robot Cell
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • High School Diploma (or equivalent), Technical degree (robotics, automation, electrical, maintenance) or equivalent experience
  • Must have some understanding of automation systems: mechanical equipment, tooling, robotics, controls, software, etc.
  • Robot Programming experience –Fanuc preferred
  • Understanding of pneumatic and electrical circuits and components
  • Ability to use hand tools to adjust equipment
  • Ability to diagnose and fix issues with equipment
  • Must be able to work safely in a production environment; must be physically capable of performing job related tasks and
  • Good organizational skills – must have ability to determine priorities, manage time properly, and multi-task. stand, stoop, and lift objects up to 50lbs.
  • Good verbal and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment with positiveoutcomes
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Humidity level may be elevated during summer months.
  • Work closely with maintenance, production, and plantmanager
  • Exposure to loud noise levels, at times
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • This position requires long periods of standing and walking
