Job summary

Materion Corporation is seeking a Senior Automation Engineer to design, implement and maintain production automation hardware and software systems. The role requires leading projects, scripting, and troubleshooting across mechanical, electrical, and computer-based platforms.

The engineer will support PLC/HMI/SCADA systems, process control lifecycle, and IT/OT collaboration while improving efficiency and product quality in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Electrical, Electronics Engineering or related field.
• 5–10+ years of relevant professional work experience.
• Experience with hardware and software automation systems in manufacturing.
• Ability to identify, adapt and solve problems quickly.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership in design, development and implementation of site process automation and control systems.
• Support full system lifecycle: design, commissioning, integration of automation systems.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, upgrade and repair automation-based production processes.
• Support Machine Profiler & Vision systems (PSI, MVC, Keyence, Cognex, Dr Schenk).
• Develop and implement HCIA/HMI/SCADA solutions for manufacturing operations.
• Write code, scripts and automation tools for product platform releases.
• Assist IT with server migrations, OS migrations and related automation tasks.
