Overview
A specialized recruiting organization focused on the factory automation, machine tool, metal fabrication, and robotics industries is seeking a skilled Installation Coordinator to support on-site projects involving the installation of specialized material handling and automation equipment at client locations. This role serves as a central point of coordination between project teams, remote stakeholders, and clients, with responsibilities spanning safety leadership, materials management, and oversight of mechanical and electrical installation work.
What you'll do
- Monitor the progress and performance of material handling automation equipment installation at client sites, recommending improvements as needed
- Oversee implementation and training related to customized automation systems and operating procedures
- Collaborate with engineering and project management teams on installation matters, reporting discrepancies such as shipping or design issues
- Contribute to and help develop installation procedures based on hands-on expertise
- Manage external contractors involved in equipment installation to ensure quality and provide necessary training
- Utilize various software platforms for engineering, project management, and service/installation coordination
- Collaborate with subcontractors to ensure completion of project checklists
- Coordinate movement of materials along with electrical, mechanical, and quality control activities based on project needs
- Develop and maintain installation schedules and tasks, and participate in client and internal project meetings
- Monitor and enforce on-site safety protocols to prevent incidents
Required qualifications
- Associate's degree in a relevant technical field (e.g., Electrical or Mechanical Engineering) with significant experience in material handling systems or industrial construction, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, including ability to use specialized installation tools
- Proficiency in safe rigging practices for lifting equipment
- Familiarity with automated material handling equipment such as stacker cranes, conveyors, automated guided vehicles (AGVs), automated storage retrieval systems (AS/RS), or related machinery
- Ability to interpret technical drawings (mechanical and electrical) for part identification and layout
- Ability to accurately lay out equipment based on design drawings and verify the layout
- Knowledge of workplace safety standards (e.g., OSHA) and ability to identify and address unsafe conditions
- Strong communication skills, including reading and interpreting technical documents, writing reports and procedures, and presenting information to various audiences
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively (up to 90%), domestically and internationally, for extended periods at installation sites; valid driver's license and good driving record required
- Physical capability to perform job duties including walking, using hands, reaching, stooping, kneeling, climbing, balancing, working at heights and in confined spaces, and lifting up to 50 pounds; specific vision abilities also required
- Must have work authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship
