Job summary

Valmet is seeking a Systems and Applications Engineer to support customers across multiple industries from a Leeds/Sheffield base in the UK. You will deliver automation services, projects, maintenance, and technical support for installed bases with occasional travel within the UK and Europe.

You will work with DCS/PLC/SCADA/HMI and HIMA systems, diagnose and repair instrumentation, prepare service reports, and build strong customer relationships while upholding health and safety standards.

Qualifications

• HNC/HND qualification in a relevant Engineering discipline.
• Good working knowledge of industrial automation systems such as DCS, PLC, SCADA, HMI, and HIMA.
• Experience working with industrial control and automation systems in process industries.
• Ability to plan and execute work independently while managing multiple priorities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to diagnose, repair, and maintain electrical and instrumentation systems.
• Experience preparing accurate and timely technical documentation and service reports.
• Ability and willingness to travel as required to support customers.
• Fluent written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Deliver customer support, maintenance, inspections, and breakdown services across Valmet's installed automation systems.
• Support the delivery of automation projects and software development activities for customers across multiple industries.
• Provide routine and on-demand technical support, including documentation and system maintenance activities.
• Diagnose, repair, and maintain electrical, instrumentation, and automation systems.
• Participate in periodic out-of-hours on-call support to ensure high levels of customer service.
• Build and maintain strong customer relationships while representing Valmet in a professional and customer-focused manner.
• Identify opportunities to improve customer processes and support the long-term success of customer operations through Valmet solutions.
• Ensure all activities are performed in accordance with Company health, safety, and environmental standards.
