Job summary

Performance Pet Products in Mitchell, SD, is seeking a Systems & Controls Technician to join the maintenance team. You will design, develop, and implement automation systems to boost efficiency, replace critical controls components, and collaborate across departments to drive improvements.

The role requires experience in automation technology, SCADA, and project management within manufacturing, with a strong focus on safety, troubleshooting, and wiring schematics.

Qualifications

• Degree or higher in a related field preferred.
• Experience in automation technology and project management in manufacturing.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Knowledge of safety procedures (lockout/tagout, confined space, etc.).
• Ability to read wiring schematics and manuals.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement automation systems to improve efficiency and productivity.
• Replace system equipment such as HMI, System Logic, motor drives, and Safety Logic as needed.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify improvement opportunities.
• Manage system software, controls, drives, and module projects from conception to completion.
• Perform routine maintenance and preventative testing on automation systems and motor controls.
• Read, troubleshoot, and repair equipment wiring according to OEM schematics.
• Provide backup support to Plant Maintenance Technicians, as needed.
