Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
• 3–7 years of experience in industrial automation or a related field.
• Working knowledge of SolidWorks and/or 3D CAD software.
• Working knowledge of DraftSight, AutoCAD, or similar 2D CAD software.
• Ability to work independently while knowing when to seek input.
• Willingness to work hands-on with automation equipment for measurements, testing, and validation.

Responsibilities

• Develop quick-turn 2D and 3D conceptual designs for custom automation equipment.
• Create conceptual equipment layouts and system arrangements using CAD tools.
• Review customer application information and specifications.
• Evaluate applications against IRIS standard equipment to determine best solution.
• Identify limitations, risks, and challenges in applications.
• Maintain current pricing for components and equipment.
• Coordinate with vendors to obtain quotations for custom components.
• Work with internal teams to understand fabrication and labor requirements for project costs.
• Compile customer application and scope information required for quotation.
• Gather dimensions, specifications, and other application details.
• Coordinate with vendors for technical information and pricing.
• Develop relationships with key suppliers and stay familiar with common automation components.
