Job summary

MKS Inc. is seeking a software engineering co-op to collaborate with engineering and operations teams on cost-effective production automation software for semiconductor and thin film products.

You will report to the Operations Software Team Lead and contribute to design, development, and deployment of key automation software. The 6-month co-op begins January 2027, offering meaningful projects, networking with peers, and exposure to multiple business divisions.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a bachelor's degree program in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering or relevant majors.
• Knowledge of .NET (VB.NET or C#).
• Familiarity with Python.
• Ability to solve complex problems relating to automation and software development.
• Must have strong written and verbal communication skills and be able to work in an internationally-based, team oriented environment.

Responsibilities

• Assisting in maintaining existing automation platforms (functionality, reliability and performance).
• Supporting new automation development initiatives and other critical projects.
• Designing and developing our internal .NET framework for production automation and backend management.
• Collaborating with New Product Introduction (NPI) teams on design, development and deployment of new production software.
• Performing root cause analysis on software failures, leading corrective action efforts and communicating results.
