Job summary

MKS Instruments is offering a 6-month Software Engineering Co-op in Rochester, NY. The role involves assisting in production automation software design, development, and maintenance, with exposure to multiple divisions and executives.

You will work with the Operations Software Team Lead and collaborate with NPI teams on new production software. Strong problem-solving and communication skills are essential, and familiarity with .NET and Python is preferred.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a Bachelor’s Degree program in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or relevant majors.
• Knowledge of .NET (either VB.NET or C#).
• Familiarity with Python.
• Ability to solve complex problems relating to automation and software development; strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work in an internationally-based, team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

• Assisting in maintaining existing automation platforms (functionality, reliability, performance).
• Supporting new automation development initiatives and other critical projects.
• Designing and developing our internal .NET framework for production automation and backend management.

Intern/Co-op Term: This is a Spring internship in Rochester, NY.

A Day In Your Life At MKS

As a Software Engineering Co-op at Power Solutions, you will partner with Technical Operations to assist other software engineers in the design, development, and implementation of cost-effective production automation software for products that are used in the semiconductor and thin film markets. In this role, you will report to the Operations Software Team Lead.

Compensation And Benefits

Hourly Pay Range: $25.00 to $29.00 per hour. This range is a good faith estimate of the expected salary range for this position, based on a wide range of factors including qualifications, experience and training, operational and business needs and other considerations permitted by law. At MKS, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for the role.

Benefits: MKS offers a benefits package for interns/co-ops working at least 20 hours per week, including 11 paid holidays, sick time, and 15 paid vacation days accrued on a biweekly basis.

The application period for the intern/co-op position is estimated to be through the end of November 2025; however, this may be shortened or extended depending on business needs and the availability of qualified candidates.
