About Us: Forward Motion Inc. is an electromechanical engineering firm in Avon, OH. We design and build custom machinery, automated control systems, process-engineered systems, and much more at our 10,000 square foot facility. We are seeking an Automation Sales Manager to join our team as we continue to grow.

Job Summary: As an Automation Sales Manager, you will play a critical role in driving our sales efforts by leveraging your technical expertise and sales acumen. You will work closely with prospective clients to understand their facility’s needs, present tailored solutions, and demonstrate the value of our services. Your goal is to build strong relationships, close deals, and contribute to the overall growth of our business. We are looking for someone to expand our reach in the Great Lakes/Midwest region (Western PA, Ohio, North/Central Indiana, Michigan). This position can be remote with occasional trips to our office in Avon, OH and should be located in one of the regions listed above.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Client Engagement: Develop and maintain relationships with prospective clients, understanding their manufacturing needs and challenges.
  • Solution Design: Collaborate with clients to identify their requirements and design customized solutions that align with their goals.
  • Seek Opportunity: Identify opportunities for additional automation, mechanical, and process piping opportunities within potential customer facilities.
  • Technical Expertise: Provide technical support and guidance to clients throughout the sales process, including answering technical questions and addressing concerns.
  • Proposal Development: Prepare and deliver compelling proposals and quotations that clearly outline the value proposition of our solutions.
  • Market Analysis: Stay informed about industry trends, market demands, and competitor activities to effectively position our products and identify new opportunities.
  • Sales Strategy: Collaborate with the sales team to develop and execute sales strategies, including lead generation, pipeline management, and closing techniques.
  • Project Management: Oversee the implementation process for sold solutions, ensuring successful deployment and client satisfaction.
  • Customer Feedback: Gather and relay feedback from clients to the product development team to help improve and innovate our automation offerings.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field preferred. Relevant experience accepted in lieu of degree.
  • Must be located in Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Illinois, or Indiana.

Experience:

  • Proven experience (3-5 years) as a Sales Engineer or in a similar technical sales role within manufacturing facilities in the U.S.
  • Technical Skills: Strong understanding of automation technologies, systems, and solutions, including PLCs, SCADA, robotics, and process control. Mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic experience is a plus.
  • Sales Skills: Demonstrated ability to drive sales, manage accounts, and achieve targets in a technical sales environment.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a customer-focused approach.
  • Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and contribute to a positive and productive work environment.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel within the U.S. as required to meet with clients and attend industry events.
