Job summary

The Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis is seeking an Automation Quality Engineer intern for a 10-week paid summer program in Indianapolis. You will build and expand automated regression tests for web, API, and backend apps, using Thunder Client and other tools, converting user stories into test scenarios.

You will collaborate with QE and development teams, execute test plans, and document defects with clear reproduction steps.

Qualifications

• Actively enrolled in an undergraduate degree program.
• Have completed at least their sophomore year of undergraduate studies.
• Majoring in Computer Science, Computer Information Technology, or Software Engineering.
• Communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally.
• Work well independently and in team settings.
• Are detail-oriented, organized, and eager to solve problems.

Responsibilities

• Assist in building and expanding automated regression test suites for web, API, and backend applications.
• Learn and apply automation tools such as Thunder Client to create reusable and scalable test scripts.
• Translate user stories and requirements into positive and negative test scenarios.
• Execute test cases, identify defects, and document findings with clear reproduction steps.
• Partner with Quality Engineers and developers to ensure new features meet quality standards before release.
• Participate in team-building activities, a group project, a community service event, and professional development sessions.

We're looking for well-rounded, motivated students to join us for a 10-week paid internship where you'll gain hands-in technical experience in your field of study, opportunities to develop key professional skills, and valuable networking connections to support future career growth. Beyond traditional internship responsibilities, participants join a cohort of 11 interns across multiple departments, engaging in collaborative group activities while also working closely with their assigned teams to build essential technical and professional competencies. Interns must be located in Indianapolis during the duration of the program and be willing to commit to a hybrid schedule of 3 days in office/2 days remote each week.

What You'll Experience

As an Automation Quality Engineer intern at FHLBank, you'll:
