Job summary

Interstates is seeking an Assistant Project Manager Intern for Summer 2026. You will support the Project Manager and department under supervision, gaining hands-on experience in project controls, scheduling, RFIs, submittals, and site communications across major industrial projects.

Current students pursuing engineering or construction-related degrees will benefit from hands-on development, coaching, and an onboarding week designed to build relationships with peers and mentors before the summer.

Qualifications

• Student pursuing a bachelor’s or associate’s degree in electrical engineering/technology, Agriculture & Biosystems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or construction management.
• Strong team-building and interpersonal skills with clear verbal and written communication.
• Ability to track and organize projects and prioritize work.
• Comfortable presenting in front of clients, peers, and managers.
• Willing to adapt project systems to meet timelines and deliver results.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Project Manager and jobsite leadership in managerial and leadership functions on the project.
• Run project control systems for the project team.
• Create and update CPM schedules and communicate progress.
• Coordinate Last Planner/White Board crew scheduling.
• Handle RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes, and site communications.
• Act as project analyst to support problem solving and alternate methods.
• Provide estimating take-offs and other support for analysis and change orders.
• Attend client meetings onsite and collaborate with trade contractors.
• Prepare information for monthly project reviews.
• Assist in procurement and expediting of materials and subcontracts.
• Promote Interstates safety culture daily.
