Job summary

HBD Industries is seeking an Automation Project Engineer to lead automation implementations across multiple sites within the United States. The role partners with an Automation Project Manager to deliver turnkey solutions from feasibility studies through commissioning.

You will develop technical specifications, manage suppliers and system integrators, program robots, and troubleshoot PLC/HMI systems on factory floors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering discipline.
• 3 years of experience implementing industrial automation and robotics.
• Experience with robotic programming and commissioning.
• Experience integrating automation in manufacturing environments.
• Experience troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, controls, and robotics.
• Experience leading capital projects.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate feasibility studies across technical and financial aspects.
• Define system requirements and performance criteria.
• Lead acquisition and installation of automation equipment to production.
• Manage suppliers, integrators, and consultants.
• Perform robot programming, path optimization, and configuration.
• Support PLC integration, I/O validation, HMI configuration, and troubleshooting.
• Provide hands-on factory support during installation and startup.
• Lead FAT and SAT, ensure successful start-up and throughput.
