Job summary

HBD Industries, Inc. is seeking a Manufacturing Automation Engineer to lead automation projects at our Asheville sites. The role involves defining specifications, coordinating with integrators, and leading installation from concept through production startup.

You will program robots, validate PLC/HMI interfaces, and troubleshoot complex automation issues on site. Travel up to two weeks per month is required; home base in the southern US is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline as listed.
  • 3 years of experience in industrial automation and robotics.
  • Experience programming and commissioning robotic systems.
  • Experience integrating automation into manufacturing environments.
  • Experience troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, and controls systems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead automation project feasibility studies and cost analyses.
  • Define system requirements and performance criteria for automation.
  • Lead installation of automation equipment from concept to production.
  • Manage suppliers, integrators, and consultants.
  • Provide hands-on factory support during installation and startup.
  • Lead FAT/SAT testing and ensure key performance targets are met.
