Job summary

Optimus-Steel-LL is seeking a Process Improvement Engineer to assist process engineers, supervisors, and plant management in optimizing electrical and process automation systems. The role focuses on continuous improvement, leveraging best practices, and acting as a change agent to maximize technologies and implement new solutions in the production location.

You will coach production and maintenance staff, coordinate across departments, and drive improvement initiatives with senior supervision.

Qualifications

• This role requires a four year college degree in Engineering (Electrical or Electronic preferred) with 5+ years in industrial/manufacturing settings.
• Extensive knowledge of steel manufacturing methods, techniques and heavy mill machinery.
• Experience with scrap processing, melting, casting, rolling, maintenance, shipping/warehouse operations is a must.
• Ability to train people and serve as a coach to employees; strong presentation and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Identify opportunities for improvement in processes, products, and production within electrical and process automation systems.
• Develop and implement new standards, structures, systems, and equipment; adjust existing ones as needed.
• Coordinate improvement activities with Superintendent, Supervisors, and staff within the steelmaking area.
• Collaborate with multiple functional groups; ensure detail orientation and self-drive in the location.
• Oversee automation technologies trainings and development activities for site personnel.
