Job summary

Georgia-Pacific’s Dixie facility in Darlington, SC is seeking a Process Control Engineer to improve safety, reliability, and performance of our manufacturing operations. You will work hands-on with PLCs, HMIs, drives, robotics, and instrumentation to support 24/7 operations.

You will partner with operations, maintenance, E&I, and leadership to diagnose issues, implement long-term solutions, and maintain documentation for sustainment.

Qualifications

• Experience troubleshooting and modifying PLC-based control systems.
• Experience reading and interpreting electrical schematics, control documentation, and technical drawings.
• Experience working effectively with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to solve manufacturing problems.
• Experience taking ownership of problems, collaborating across disciplines, and contributing to the success of the broader manufacturing operation.
• Legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on troubleshooting and technical support for PLCs, HMIs, drives, robotics, instrumentation, safety systems, and networks to improve safety, reliability, uptime, and operability.
• Partner with operations, maintenance, E&I, and leadership teams to diagnose production issues, determine root cause, and implement practical long-term solutions.
• Evaluate existing control systems and automation practices to identify gaps and recommend practical improvements.
• Support startup, commissioning, debugging, and stabilization of new or upgraded equipment with a focus on safe operation and maintainability.
• Maintain accurate control system documentation, program backups, electrical drawings, schematics, and functional descriptions for long-term sustainability.
• Define and develop PLC data structures and system information to support visibility, troubleshooting, reporting, and continuous improvement.
