Job summary

Ball Corporation seeks a Manager, Automation and Support Systems to lead a regional team of engineers, enhancing technology, productivity, and reliability across Ball plants. You will standardize PLC practices, drive line control improvements, and train site personnel in new systems, with up to 60% travel nationwide.

This role requires strong electrical/mechanical engineering background, contractor management, and PLC expertise, including Rockwell and Siemens platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or related field preferred.
• Electrical experience in a Manufacturing environment.
• Ability to manage contractors.
• Worked extensively in an industrial electrical engineering environment.
• Working knowledge of mechanical and electrical support equipment.
• Strong interpersonal skills, including influencing, facilitation and negotiation.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of Controls Engineers for the implementation of regional line control and line simulation software.
• Assures the use of appropriate and consistent technologies; maintain new technologies system wide as required.
• Standardize, enhance and improve reliability of facility support equipment (air compressors, dryers, RTOs, ovens, vision systems).
• Develop, implement and maintain PLC hardware and software standards for new and existing sites.
• Ensure infrastructure is effective across regional facilities.
• Drive the team to improve line control and equipment to maximize Asset Utilization throughout the plant network.
• Provide training to plant personnel for the implementation and support of the newly implemented systems.
• Provide training for development software for plant personnel to perform modeling on their own.
• Establish and maintain PLC standards for new and old sites and support new site implementation as required.
• Ensure line control team and site electricians are competent on PLC programming with proper access rights.
• Determine rollout plan of site line control to maximize output across plant network and best line control approach from ladder logic to AOI.
