Job summary

Blue Origin in Titusville, FL, invites applications for a Mechanical Engineer in the Factory Automation group. You will design custom mechanical systems for automation equipment, create CAD models, and produce BOMs and assembly instructions.

You will collaborate with controls, software, and manufacturing teams to ensure robust, safe, and manufacturable solutions. The role requires hands-on experience with robotics, machine design, and manufacturing processes, with frequent design reviews,

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in mechanical design for automation, robotics, or industrial equipment environment.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software with PDM.
• Strong understanding of machine design, motion systems and pneumatic actuators.
• Experience with manufacturing processes such as machining, welding, sheet metal fabrication, and assembly.
• Familiarity with robotic systems and end-of-arm tooling design.
• Working knowledge of safety and ergonomic standards for industrial automation.

Responsibilities

• Design custom mechanical systems and assemblies for automation equipment, including tooling, fixtures, robotic cells, and mechanical sub-systems.
• Create 3D CAD models and 2D drawings using NX Design, SolidWorks, PTC Creo or similar software.
• Develop and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs), assembly instructions, and technical documentation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements and deliver complete solutions.
• Ensure mechanical designs meet functional requirements, manufacturability standards, safety codes, and ergonomic guidelines.
• Participate in design reviews, prototyping, testing, and system integration.
• Support the fabrication, assembly, and installation phases of automation projects.
