Job summary

ATS Industrial Automation is seeking an Intermediate Mechanical Design Engineer to develop concepts and detailed mechanical designs for automated assembly systems. You will use CAD to create layouts, parts, assemblies, and BOMs while collaborating with project teams to meet function, quality and schedule requirements.

The role emphasizes robust, cost-effective designs, adherence to ATS standards, and participation in design reviews.

Qualifications

• Two to six (2-6) years of automation experience.
• Proficiency in 2D AutoCAD, 3D Solid Works or similar CAD systems.
• Proficient with computers, including programs such as AutoCAD, Solid Works, Microsoft Office suite, etc.
• Able to operate fax machines, copiers, printers/plotters, etc.
• Proficient with inspection and measuring tools such as scales, calipers, micrometers, etc.

Responsibilities

• Design cam, servo, and air operated stations and to make changes to existing designs.
• Ensure the design is functional, robust, and cost effective.
• Innovate and use good judgment to incorporate ATS standards and regulatory requirements.
• Set and maintain departmental goals in keeping with company objectives.
• Support and participate in quality management program.
• Create detail drawings, assembly drawings, bill of materials, organize release packages, and update drawings.
• Participate in internal and customer design reviews.
• Prepare pneumatic and timing diagrams and select appropriate sensors.
• Work with suppliers to find/develop the most functional and economical solutions to design issues.
• Work under the confines of the project schedule and budget.
• Problem-solve design or detail issues and update all appropriate documentation.
• Communicate ideas and comprehend information both verbally and in written form.
• Follow all policy and procedures to adhere to ISO 9001 certification requirements.
• Help guide and mentor Level I Mechanical Engineers with the execution of their designs and projects.
• Keeps abreast of current product developments.
• Full compliance to the terms and conditions within the employee signed work from home policy.
• Provide necessary documentation and support for machinery operating manuals.
• Travel or extend workday if required

College degree in mechanical engineering, technology or equivalent experience
