Job summary
General Motors LLC is seeking a Sr. Automation Engineer recognized for expertise in supplier automation assessment and manufacturing optimization.
You will lead strategic initiatives to evaluate automation capabilities, focusing on material handling, material flow, and alignment with GM’s industrialization and sourcing strategies. You will serve as a key interface across suppliers, Industrialization teams, PPM and PPCO, driving cross-functional alignment, mentoring junior staff, and presenting
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
- 5+ years of relevant work experience in automation or manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of material handling and material flow optimization.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence senior stakeholders.
- Advanced analytics skills with Power BI, Excel, and data modeling.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 50%.
Responsibilities
- Lead complex assessments of supplier automation maturity using GM frameworks.
- Develop and implement automation maturity strategies aligned with GM goals.
- Evaluate and optimize supplier material handling and flow systems.
- Facilitate workshops and improvement plans with suppliers.
- Serve as liaison between suppliers, industrialization, PPM, PPCO, and GM teams.
- Mentor junior specialists and guide cross-functional teams.
- Present strategic recommendations to senior leadership and drive adoption.
- Own development and continuous improvement of GM’s automation maturity model.
