Job summary

Assurant is seeking an Automation Maintenance Technician for our Mt. Juliet, TN facility. The role covers electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic maintenance, interpreting blueprints, using various tools, and ensuring production remains on track.

The position is onsite with Fri-Mon 5:00 AM to 3:30 PM, requiring safety compliance and a hands-on, multi-craft approach to keeping equipment running smoothly. Training and growth are encouraged.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

  • Preventative maintenance of machinery and facility equipment following manufacturer guidelines.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical issues on production equipment including motors, conveyors, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Perform electrical repairs including wiring, fuses and motor control components.
  • Disassemble and repair bearings, gears, belts, and pumps.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and technical manuals for repairs.
  • May fabricate small parts using welders or machine shop equipment.
  • Log maintenance activities and parts used in CMMS.
  • Follow all safety protocols and procedures.
  • Complete 40 hours of training per year.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance team, Operators and Leaders.

Job description

The Automation Maintenance Technician is a skilled industrial worker who performs a variety of maintenance tasks across multiple disciplines, including electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic, on machinery and facility equipment, troubleshooting malfunctions, completing preventative maintenance, and making repairs as needed, often requiring proficiency in reading blueprints and utilizing various hand and power tools to keep production running smoothly; essentially, they are a jack-of-all-trades when it comes to facility maintenance. The role will keep the equipment in the facility maintained and functioning so it can support the Operations need. The role will also make or suggestion improvements as needed.

This is an onsite role in our Mt. Juliet TN facility with a schedule of Friday - Monday, 5AM – 3:30PM.

What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?
Preventative Maintenance
  • Regularly inspecting and servicing machinery according to manufacturer's guidelines, including lubrication, cleaning, and adjustments to prevent breakdowns.
Troubleshooting And Repair
  • Diagnosing and fixing mechanical and electrical issues on production equipment, including motors, conveyors, pneumatic systems, hydraulic systems, and control panels.
Electrical Maintenance
  • Performing electrical repairs like replacing wiring, fuses, and motor control components, adhering to safety standards.
Mechanical Maintenance
  • Disassembling and repairing mechanical components such as bearings, gears, belts, and pumps.
Reading Blueprints And Technical Manuals
  • Interpreting technical drawings and equipment manuals to understand system layouts and perform repairs correctly.
Basic Fabrication Skills
  • May need to fabricate small parts for repairs using tools like welders or machine shop equipment
Data Logging And Reporting
  • Maintaining detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts used through a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)
Safety Compliance
  • Adhering to all safety protocols and procedures while working on machinery
Self Development
  • Complete 40 hours of training each year
What are the requirements needed for this position?
  • High school diploma or general education (GED)
  • 3+ years of electrical, mechanical or multi-craft maintenance experience in a manufacturing/industrial environment or equivalent education.
  • Ability to make sound judgments and elevate pertinent issues to upper management when necessary.
  • Must be willing to work in various areas of the plant and grounds and be able to follow oral and written instructions related to routine procedures; complete all tasks as assigned.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision and work cooperatively with multiple departments.
  • Must have the ability to troubleshoot and repair robots, conveyors, cameras, polishing equipment, and shrink wrap systems.
  • Willing and able to wear various types of Personal Protective Equipment as required; follow safety rules and practices.
  • Must be certified or willing and able to become certified in all the following OSHA safety disciplines Lockout/Tag Out
  • Willing to work Overtime, Weekends and Off-Shift hours when necessary
  • Technical Skills: Strong understanding of electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic.
  • Team Player or Leader: Able to work well with other Maintenance techs, Operators, and Leaders. Teach the operators on basic equipment trouble shooting.
  • Good Communication: Writing and Oral
  • Troubleshooting Ability: Excellent problem-solving skills to diagnose equipment malfunctions
  • Hand and Power Tool Proficiency: Ability to use a wide range of hand tools and power tools safely and effectively
  • Blueprint Reading: Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
  • Basic Computer Skills: Familiarity with CMMS software for data entry and reporting
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy objects, climb ladders, and stand for long periods
What other skills/experience would be helpful to have?
  • Robot: Working knowledge of operations and troubleshooting Kuka Robots
  • PLCs: Working knowledge of B&, Siemens, and Allen Bradley

Pay Range

$20.96 - $34.59
