Job summary

BorgWarner in Seneca, SC is seeking a Maintenance Automation Technician to service and improve industrial equipment. You will perform preventive and corrective maintenance on hydraulics, pneumatics, robotics, and electrical systems, ensuring safety and quality standards on the shop floor.

The role requires 2+ years in maintenance, an associate degree or equivalent experience, and familiarity with PLCs and schematics. Overtime and on-call work may be required.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or engineering fields or equivalent experience.
• High School diploma or GED required.
• 2+ years maintenance experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanics, and basic electrical repair.
• Minimum 1 year on equipment including lubrication, cleaning, material handling, motor control, relays, sensors.
• Familiarity with OSHA safety standards.
• Experience troubleshooting PLCs, AC/DC power, sensors, fuses, relays.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical/mechanical schematics.
• Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Follow safety policies while servicing, installing, or maintaining equipment.
• Work with engineering staff on installation, upgrades, and parts for new products and improvements.
• Perform preventive maintenance including repair, diagnosis, cleaning, lubrication, and equipment upgrades.
• Provide support to troubleshoot and recover robotic systems on the production line.
• Ensure operation of machinery by completing maintenance requirements, both planned and unplanned.
• Inspect and troubleshoot signs of malfunction and readjust as needed.
• Perform emergency repairs on mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
• Read and interpret procedures, schematics, manuals; complete work orders with high quality.
• Maintain paperwork per SOPs and communicate with departments.
• Assist in inventory management and 5S workplace organization.
• Fabricate simple repair parts using shop tools; handle non-traditional hours and on-call duties.
• Willing to travel for training as needed.
