Job summary

Danos seeks an Automation Integrator II to design, commission, and optimize automation for upstream oil and gas facilities. You will work with operations, engineering, instrumentation, and maintenance teams to deliver reliable automation solutions that meet safety and process goals.

The role covers PLC/RTU/HMI/SCADA integration, control logic development, and support for field instrumentation and networking across sites. A relevant technical degree and 3+ years in the field are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or higher in automation technology or related field.
  • 3+ years supporting industrial automation in oil and gas, petrochemical, or related industries.
  • Experience with PLC programming and troubleshooting on major platforms.
  • Experience with SCADA systems, HMI development, and industrial networking.
  • Strong knowledge of instrumentation, process controls, and automation architecture.
  • Ability to read electrical/instrumentation drawings and P&IDs.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Upstream oil and gas operations experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Design, configure, integrate, and support automation and control systems for upstream facilities.
  • Analyze operational requirements and propose automation solutions to improve efficiency and safety.
  • Install, commission, test, and troubleshoot PLC, RTU, HMI, and SCADA systems.
  • Develop and maintain control logic, communication architectures, and documentation.
  • Support field instrumentation and networking across facilities.
  • Configure industrial protocols and networking technologies (Modbus, Ethernet/IP, OPC, DNP3).
  • Collaborate with operations, engineering, and maintenance to identify upgrades.
  • Perform root cause analysis and provide technical support for automation issues.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards, cybersecurity, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain records of programming changes and commissioning activities.
  • Participate in capital projects, startups, and system upgrades.
  • Support alarm management, data acquisition, and reporting initiatives.

Job description

Overview

The Automation Integrator II is responsible for integrating, commissioning, maintaining, and optimizing automation systems that enhance the efficiency, reliability, and safety of oil and gas production facilities. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with operations, engineering, instrumentation, and maintenance teams to ensure automation solutions meet business and operational requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Design, configure, integrate, and support automation and control systems for upstream oil and gas facilities.
  • Analyze operational requirements and recommend automation solutions that improve production efficiency, equipment reliability, and process safety.
  • Install, commission, test, and troubleshoot PLC, RTU, HMI, and SCADA systems.
  • Develop and maintain control logic, communication architectures, and automation documentation.
  • Support field instrumentation, including pressure, temperature, flow, level, and analytical devices.
  • Configure and maintain industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, Ethernet/IP, OPC, DNP3, and related networking technologies.
  • Collaborate with production operations, facility engineering, and maintenance personnel to identify automation improvement opportunities.
  • Perform root cause analysis and provide technical support for automation and control system issues.
  • Ensure automation systems comply with company standards, cybersecurity requirements, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Maintain accurate records of programming changes, system modifications, and commissioning activities.
  • Participate in capital projects, facility startups, system upgrades, and expansion activities.
  • Support alarm management, data acquisition, and reporting initiatives to improve operational visibility.
  • Provide after-hours technical support as required during assigned work rotations.
  • Advanced understanding of facilities equipment, process flow and automation control systems and designs. Savvy with Electrical systems, Mechanical systems, Software applications, data management, and network security with ability to apply knowledge and experience to offer solutions.
  • Develop and validate function of automation programs ensuring compliance to automation engineering documentation
  • Use of all forms of software such as PLC Software (Examples) RSLogix500, RSLogix5000, DirectSoft5, ROCLINK 800/DS800; programs for HMIs, Red Lion Crimson, Factory Talk View, and Panelview; program RTUs and support troubleshooting.
  • Complete redlines and relevant documentation to automation engineering (C&Es, P&IDs,1-lines, etc.) to support current AS-BUILT post commissioning.
  • Identify and troubleshoot Ethernet, serial, satellite and wireless field communications
Qualifications
  • Associate degree or higher in Automation Technology, Instrumentation, Electrical Engineering Technology, Computer Engineering Technology, or a related technical discipline; equivalent field experience may be considered.
  • 3+ years of experience supporting industrial automation systems in oil and gas, petrochemical, manufacturing, or related industries.
  • Experience with PLC programming and troubleshooting (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Schneider, or similar platforms).
  • Experience with SCADA systems, HMI development, and industrial networking.
  • Strong understanding of instrumentation, process controls, and automation architecture.
  • Knowledge of electrical and instrumentation drawings, P&IDs, loop drawings, and control narratives.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex automation and communication issues in field environments.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Experience in upstream oil and gas production operations.
  • Familiarity with Ignition, Wonderware, CygNet, AVEVA, or similar SCADA platforms.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles for industrial control systems.
  • Experience with wireless communications, radio systems, and remote telemetry applications.
  • ISA certifications or other automation-related certifications.
  • Advanced Knowledge & technical skills working with PLCs, HMIs, RTUs, EFMs, POCs (Allan Bradley, Totalflow, ROCs, Coriolis, etc.) and automation end devices.
