Job summary

Insight Global is seeking an Automation Engineering Technician I/II/III/Sr for a top Oil & Gas client. This role blends remote collaboration with hands-on field work across compressor stations and pipeline facilities, supporting commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of automation systems.

You will install, configure, program, and maintain PLCs, HMIs, RTUs, and related control systems while helping drive reliability, cybersecurity compliance, and operational efficiency in

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
• 5-8+ years of automation or control systems experience in an industrial environment.
• Hands-on HMI experience with screen modifications.
• Ability to read electrical drawings, P&IDs, and control diagrams.
• Experience installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial control systems.

This candidate will support automation engineering efforts across compressor stations, pipeline facilities, and other operational assets. The role offers a blend of remote collaboration and hands-on field work, supporting commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of automation systems. Candidates will work closely with engineers and operations teams to install, configure, program, and maintain PLCs, HMIs, RTUs, and associated control systems while helping drive reliability, operational efficiency, and cybersecurity compliance across critical infrastructure. Day-to-Day:

• Support commissioning activities for compressor and pipeline facilities
• Assist with new facility startups and modifications to existing sites
• Gather field data for Automation and Compression Design Engineers
• Assist in specifying, installing, and modifying automation systems
• Install, configure, and calibrate automation and control equipment
• Troubleshoot and repair automated and integrated systems
• Support HMI and PLC software updates and revisions
• Assist with control system configuration, logic, displays, and security settings
• Implement cybersecurity policies, including firmware and password updates
• Provide technical support to field operations teams
• Support capital projects and maintenance construction activities

Must-Haves:

• Associate's degree in Electrical, Chemical, Civil, Mechanical, Petroleum Engineering, Math, Science, or related field OR equivalent military/vocational/direct industry experience
• 5-8+ years of automation, instrumentation, or control systems experience in an industrial environment
• Hands-on HMI experience, including screen modifications and support
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, P&IDs, and control diagrams
• Experience installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial control systems
