Job summary

Blue Origin's Factory Automation team designs, builds, and deploys automated manufacturing systems for aerospace components. The role leads a tight-knit group of engineers and technicians, setting technical direction and driving projects end-to-end from concept through commissioning.

We seek hands-on leaders with deep experience in mechanical, electrical, or controls disciplines who can deliver manufacturing solutions with ownership, quality, and urgency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Controls, Mechatronics, or related field.
• Minimum 2 years leading engineers/technicians delivering automated manufacturing systems.
• Minimum 5 years hands-on experience designing automated manufacturing systems.
• Experience delivering systems into production with hands-on design/build/installation/commissioning.
• US citizen or eligible to work in the US.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of automation engineers and technicians in design, build, and deployment of high-rate manufacturing systems.
• Recruit, develop, and retain a high-performing automation team.
• Partner with stakeholders to drive alignment and resolve impediments.
• Manage resources, schedules, and cross-functional dependencies; roll up status into program plan.
• Monitor performance and mitigate risks to protect commitments.
• Communicate status and risks to senior leadership and stakeholders.
• Champion Design for Automated Manufacturing principles across product teams.
• Define and manage scope of automation deliverables from requirements through acceptance.
