Job summary

Blue Origin's Factory Automation team seeks a technically grounded engineering manager with hands-on experience in mechanical/electrical controls or automation project management. You will lead a tight-knit group delivering automated manufacturing systems from design through commissioning, guiding technical direction and ensuring alignment with program goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical, Electrical, Controls, Mechatronics or related engineering field.
• Minimum 2 years of experience managing teams delivering automated manufacturing systems.
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on technical experience designing automated manufacturing systems for automation integrators or in-house teams.
• Hands-on involvement in design, build, installation, or commissioning of automation.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident or refugee/asylum status.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of automation engineers and technicians in the design, build, and deployment of high-rate automated manufacturing systems for aerospace components.
• Recruit, develop, and retain a high-performing automation team.
• Partner with stakeholders across the organization to drive alignment and resolve impediments.
• Manage resource allocation, project schedules, and cross-functional dependencies; roll up health into the program plan.
• Monitor team and project performance; identify risks and develop mitigation plans.
• Communicate project status to senior leadership and translate team health into program reporting.
• Champion Design for Automated Manufacturing across product design and engineering teams; drive automation-friendly design practices.
• Define and manage the scope of automation deliverables from requirements through acceptance.
