Job summary

Mettler Toledo AG is seeking an Automation Engineering Manager in Oakland, CA to lead the development of next-generation automation for liquid handling. You will supervise a team, drive concepts through to production launch, and collaborate across engineering, quality, manufacturing and service to deliver high-impact solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead automation projects from concept through commissioning and production launch.
• Develop manufacturing equipment and processes to improve quality, efficiency and safety.
• Apply precision mechanisms, pneumatics, servo systems, tooling and sensors.
• Collaborate with Product Development, Quality, Manufacturing and Service Operations.
• Champion Design for Manufacturability and Lean methods across sites.
• Lead equipment qualification, documentation, training, calibration and PM activities.
• Manage external partners including vendors and contract manufacturers.
• Build business cases, CAPEX proposals, and ROI evaluations for automation initiatives.
• Assess resource needs, timelines and budgets to ensure project success.
• Coach and develop a high-performing automation engineering team.
