Job summary

Gentex Corp is seeking an Automation Engineer to design, implement, and sustain automated manufacturing systems, integrating robotics, PLCs, sensors, and machine vision to enhance safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance.

This role supports new product introduction, production sustainment, and continuous improvement by troubleshooting issues, validating equipment, and driving Lean manufacturing initiatives in cross-functional teams across Operations, Maintenance, and Quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Manufacturing or related field.
• Experience with automation, robotics, PLCs and controls preferred.
• Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma or continuous improvement exposure preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop, integrate, and maintain automated manufacturing systems and equipment.
• Troubleshoot automation, controls, sensors, robotics, and equipment issues to minimize downtime.
• Coordinate with suppliers and internal teams to resolve installation and performance issues.
• Support equipment qualification, process validation, and test plans.
• Drive Lean initiatives and standardization across manufacturing processes.
