Job summary

CBRE Global Workplace Solutions (GWS) is seeking an Automation Engineer in Augusta, GA to support advanced automation systems for a major retailer. This exempt, full‑time role focuses on maintaining and improving conveyors, PLCs, scanners, SCADA platforms, and other automation equipment to optimize uptime and safety.

You will troubleshoot, program PLCs, collaborate with site teams, and coordinate with outside contractors while upholding safety standards and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of relevant experience in automation engineering.
• Experience with PLC programming and SCADA-based monitoring.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred; combination of experience and education considered.

Responsibilities

• Promote a safe working environment and comply with codes, regulations, and company directives.
• Troubleshoot and modify software for material handling control systems, including PLC/PC controllers.
• Act as first level escalation on-site and remotely, during and after hours.
• Inspect systems to ensure operation within design capabilities and client specifications.
• Coordinate development, work requests, scheduling, and inspection with outside contractors.
• Communicate with stakeholders on timelines, needs, and production impacts.
