Job summary

CBRE Global Workplace Solutions (GWS) seeks an Automation Engineer to support advanced automation systems for a major online retailer. The role emphasizes hands‑on problem solving, system optimization, and reliable uptime across conveyors, PLCs, scanners, vision systems, and SCADA platforms.

You will diagnose complex issues, improve preventive maintenance, and work with CBRE’s safety‑driven culture while collaborating with site leadership and maintenance teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher with 2-5 years of relevant experience.
• Experience in at least two engineering design cycles including specification, component selection and programming.
• 2+ years of experience with PLC programming, robotics components, controls, and SCADA-based monitoring and control systems.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and modify software for material handling control systems, including PLC/PC controllers and RSLogix software.
• Provide first-level escalation in troubleshooting support on-site and remotely, including after-hours.
• Inspect systems to ensure operation within design capabilities and prescribed conditions.
• Oversee development scope, work requests, scheduling, and inspection of contractor work and upgrades.
• Engineer process solutions and reliability improvements from concept to network implementation.
• Monitor Industrial networks (Ethernet, ControlNet, DeviceNet, Profibus, AS-I) and motor control systems.
