Job summary

Flex-N-Gate, a leading automotive supplier, is seeking an Automation Engineer to develop, edit, maintain and troubleshoot automated actuators, PLCs and motion-controlled programs on manufacturing equipment.

The role requires 3–5 years of manufacturing technology experience, proficiency with Allen Bradley PLCs and Panel View interfaces, and a bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience. The position is on-site with strong emphasis on problem solving and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred; experience in lieu of degree will be considered.
• 3–5 years of experience in manufacturing technology.
• Competency with Allen Bradley PLC programming hardware and software.
• Competency with Allen Bradley Operator Interface hardware and software (Panel View).
• Ability to specify, install, debug and start-up electrical control and power system equipment.
• PLC programming skills to ensure proper and safe machine function.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access and Project.
• Strong organizational, communication, analytical and multi-project management skills.

Responsibilities

• Instruct and train process engineers and die setters in real-time troubleshooting techniques across basic electrical, mechanical and pneumatic robot functions.
• Develop, organize and improve spare parts inventories.
• Participate in APQP activities for development of control plans.
• Provide daily technical support on the production floor to meet efficiency goals.
• Initiate and participate in continuous improvement, cycle time reductions and root cause analysis.
• Investigate mechanical failures or unexpected maintenance problems.
• Integrate robotics with peripherals such as welders, controllers, or other equipment.
