Job summary

PPG Industries, Inc. is seeking an Operations Engineer for our Monroeville, PA site within the Specialty Synthesis Group. The role focuses on overseeing the plant’s PLC system to ensure uptime and support plant projects, growth, and process improvements.

You will report to the Engineering and Maintenance Manager and work onsite in Monroeville, PA. Benefits include medical, dental, vision coverage; 401(k) matching; retirement savings opportunities; and paid vacation and holidays.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical, or related).
• Controls experience with PLCs, SCADA, Historian, Instrumentation, and industrial controls.
• Chemical and manufacturing experience preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude and safety awareness.
• Attention to detail and documentation, with strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, maintain, and modify existing PLC programs.
• Support and maintain process control systems, HMI, historian, iFix, and SCADA.
• Provide operational support to maintain system documentation and backups.
• Participate in PSM (Process Safety Management) and perform MOC as needed.
• Provide real-time engineering support including control systems, instrumentation, and process equipment issues.
• Project work: project management controls and operational requirements.
• Identify areas of improvement for automation, safety, and operational improvements.
