Job summary

IDEX Band-It is seeking an Automation Engineer to design, integrate, and sustain PLC-controlled automation for electromechanical tools. You will collaborate with product teams and external contractors to advance PCBA-driven systems, including data acquisition, motion control, and robust testing.

Ideal candidates have a BS in engineering or CS and 2+ years in PCBA-based control systems with motor control experience.

Qualifications

• BS degree in an engineering field or CS.
• 2+ years in PCBA-based control systems; PLC/HMI experience preferred.
• Experience with motor/motion control strongly desired.
• Strong troubleshooting and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead or contribute to automation projects including accelerated testing systems for new products.
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and support PLC-based automation systems.
• Collaborate with product engineers, PMs and third-party contractors on PCBA-controlled systems.
• Manage third-party contractors for hardware development: SOWs, quotations, oversight, scheduling and testing.
• Create and maintain schematics, drawings, BOMs, process flows, and other docs.
• Research new technologies to support product innovation and continuous improvement.
• Conduct benchmark, life, lab and field testing of products.
• Capture VOC feedback and translate into design improvements.
• Ensure compliance with standards and certifications, coordinating with regulators as needed.
• Perform root-cause investigations and corrective actions.
• Support supply chain activities including supplier selection and qualification.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
