Job summary

IDEX is seeking an Automation Engineer to develop, integrate, and sustain PLC-based automation and PCBA-controlled systems. You will drive testing, collaborate with product teams and contractors, and create documentation to support product innovation.

The role requires embedded programming (C/C++/Python), PLC/HMI knowledge, and a strong hardware/software integration mindset. Excellent communication and a hands-on approach are essential for success in this cross-functional environment.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or CS.
2+ years in PCBA-based control systems; PLC/HMI experience preferred.
Experience with motor/motion control is highly desired.

Responsibilities

Lead or contribute to automation projects and accelerated testing systems.
Maintain and troubleshoot PLC-based automation.
Collaborate with product engineers and third-party contractors on PCBA-controlled systems.
Generate technical documentation (schematics, BOMs, process flows).
Research new technologies for product innovation and improvement.
Perform benchmarking, life, and field testing.
Capture VOC feedback and translate to design improvements.
Ensure compliance with standards and certifications.
Support supply chain activities including supplier qualification.
Perform other duties as assigned.
