Job summary

3M seeks a Manufacturing Technology Specialist focused on material handling and warehouse automation at the Maplewood, MN site. You will identify opportunities, design practical automation solutions, and drive projects from concept through deployment with cross-functional teams.

The role emphasizes hands-on problem solving, supplier collaboration, and ensuring safe, reliable operations while expanding scalable standards across sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial/Manufacturing/Mechanical/Automation Engineering (completed and verified prior to start).
• 5+ years of experience in material handling, warehouse automation, intralogistics or manufacturing engineering.
• Experience with suppliers, system integrators, site teams and cross-functional partners to translate needs into solutions.
• Lean/Six Sigma certification or demonstrated practical application (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Identify and develop material handling and warehouse automation opportunities across sites and DCs.
• Assess and optimize material flow to improve throughput and reduce bottlenecks.
• Develop process maps, capacity models and business cases to support decisions.
• Lead automation projects from concept through installation, startup and validation.
• Collaborate with IT/OT and enterprise systems for integration and data needs.
