Job summary
Randstad USA is seeking an Automation Engineer to lead development, optimization, and strategic advancement of automation systems in manufacturing. You will mentor team members and collaborate cross-functionally to deploy best-in-class solutions while ensuring ITAR compliance.
The role focuses on automation systems, robotics, vision systems, and control hardware, with a strong emphasis on improving efficiency, scalability, and performance across operations.
Qualifications
- 4 years of experience in automation/engineering
- Associate degree or equivalent in a related field
- ITAR compliance required for all applicants
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary technical expert for automation systems, robotics, vision systems, sensors, pneumatics, hydraulics, and motion controls.
- Manage complex automation and tooling projects from concept to completion; lead capital equipment justification, specification, and validation within budget and schedule targets.
- Design parts, fixtures, and EOAT using 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Cimitron, AutoCAD 2D, SolidWorks Electrical).
- Program and troubleshoot PLCs, industrial networks, automation communication protocols, low voltage controls, and three-phase power systems.
- Lead NPI and drive lean continuous improvement initiatives, establish KPIs, and perform root-cause analysis on bottlenecks.
- Partner with Engineering, Tooling, and Quality teams to standardize practices and mentor junior engineers and technicians.
